Parish Organizations : Vacation Bible School

2009 VBS a huge success!  "Crocodile Dock" Vacation Bible School was very successful this year.  About 160 children from pre-school through 5th grade participated in the weeklong celebration of faith, fellowhsip and FUN!

Congratulations on a job well done and a big thank you to VBS Coordinator Paula Reardon and to all of the volunteers who helped make the program possible.

Throughout the spring, we conducted a survey to determine interest in an evening VBS program.  Only a small number of families expressed an interest in moving the program to the evening so plans are underway for next year's session to be held JUNE 21-25, 2010 from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon.  The theme will be "High Seas Expedition" and we hope you will make plans to attend.

A question that came up during this year's VBS was whether or not we use th Catholic version of the VBS Program.  The answer is "ABSOLUTELY"  St Mary uses the Totally Catholic Version which features the music of John Burland, who composes usic to promote and celebrate our Catholic identity.  Additionally, all manuals and books are the New Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition Bible.

VBS incorporates an exciting variety of activities, crafts, Bible stories and snacks during the week.  A new theme is used each year to keep the kids active and excited about Jesus.  VBS is open to children entering K-5th grade and also has special activities for pre-schoolers.  Many volunteers are needed in different capacities to make each VBS year a success!  Please contact Paula Reardon at 750.524.2302 if you are interested in this wonderful ministry to our youth.
